EZM supplies standard and special sections in virtually every steel material, in cold-drawn and cold-rolled form or in versions produced using a combination of both cold-forming technologies. The production plants in Wetter-Wengern and Witten have optimum heat treatment, pickling and coating facilities for each group of materials. Through the combination of these steps with the preceding and subsequent cold-forming processes, EZM ensures that the sections produced precisely meet the customer’s specific requirements.
Sections are used successfully whenever metal cutting is uneconomical because of the high investment required and/or the material losses, or in cases where the section is to have certain properties that can only be achieved by cold-forming. The use of special sections produced to customer drawings can be worth while even if only relatively small piece numbers are involved, as the minimum batch size for EZM sections is approx. 1,000 kg and the production of the original drawing tools generally costs less than 5,000 euros.
One absolute prerequisite for the reproducible manufacture of precision tools with tolerances in the µm range are high-performance wire-eroding machines where the tool service lives are today many times longer than in the past. Constant improvements in tool production permit the geometry and form of EZM sections to come as close as possible to the final dimensions, complying with extremely close tolerances and displaying faultless surfaces. This allows many customers to eliminate time-consuming operations on individual pieces, such as milling or grinding. That saves time and cuts production costs.
EZM ensures the required freedom from surface defects by means of a wire peeling and grinding facility, with which the rolled wire can be machined as a preliminary product for manufacturing sections.
