Special customer requirements prompted us to manufacture selected bright-steel specialities in a separate production plant.
These specialities, which are produced in the form of round bars in the size range from 0.5 mm to 32 mm and referred to as “precision bright steel“, are characterised by the following features:

 

The producible materials

For instance, a stainless steel for use in the electronics industry that is charac-terised by the same coefficient of thermal expansion as glass.

For instance, a vacuum-remelted stainless steel, or also titanium materials, for implants or for medical equipment in general.

For instance, a steel for reduced shank bolts in an air-cooled boxer-engine that has the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the other engine components

 

The attainable tolerances

Tolerances up to IT 6 can be set on the centerless grinding and combined grinding and polishing machines at EZM.

 

The achievable surface finishes

Depending on the material involved, we can cater to various customer requirements, such as freedom from polishing marks or limited surface roughness values.

 

The available bar lengths

Using our grinding machines specially converted for the purpose, we can produce bars up to a length of 12 m, e.g. as metering rods for installation in papermaking machines.

 

The achievable strengths

Extremely good strength values can be achieved, e.g. up to 1600 N/mm2 on quenched and tempered hot-work steel for ejector pins. EZM is one of the leading suppliers on the market for applications of this kind.

 

The above-mentioned features can, of course, be combined. For example:

 

• Metering rods as 12 m bars in versions

  free of polishing marks and with h6

  tolerances.

• The material for ejector pins can be

  produced with a strength of 1,400

  to 1,600 N/mm2 and h6 or g-f6
